Challenge

Making a business plan, understanding cash flow projections and realizing that traditional financing was not going to be an option.

"When I decided to move my business to Bozeman, I had only been in business for just under a year. To make sure my business flourished, I reached out to the Bozeman SBDC for counselling in hopes of being able to qualify for a loan with a traditional lender. Kristi helped with making a business plan and provided guidance for cash flow projections."

Solution

The Bozeman SBDC pursued a loan through Prospera and Kaylynn was able to secure a loan for the business to start in Bozeman. The SBDC also helped Kaylynn understand cash flow projections and creating a business plan by showing her a template and giving her professional guidance.

ResultS

Due to the hard work from Kaylynn and the SBDC, the Gallatin Valley now has another licensed denturist to help bring smiles to the community. For the patients, wait time has been cut in half and patient care is personalized and judgment free. With her eye for achieving natural characteristics for each person, patients are now getting top-notch care.

During the process of setting up her business, Juli ran into some challenges. she found that crafting a business plan was difficult and most importantly, she didn't know where to start. After completing the business plan, she ran into another road block, finding the funds. She reached out to the SBDC to ask for directions on where to look for the appropriate financial institutions. Lastly, she realized that she needed help building a business strategy, so she turned to the Great Falls SBDC for guidance.

Thanks to the SBDC, Juli was given extensive guidance and feedback on her business plan. In addition, Rich Gannon, Business Advisor, pointed her to the right financial institutions to secure the funding she needed to get a down payment for equipment and to open her businesses quicker than expected. The Great Falls SBDC also helped her get LivePlan (a sophisticated tool for refining and executing her business strategy).

ResultS

Since its opening in 2024, The Cage has provided a much-needed practice space for local athletes and contributes to the development of baseball and softball in Great Falls. With the creation of new jobs in the area, The Cage can now provide opportunities for athletes five days a week.
